The Regional Unity Initiative: Building Bridges Across Florida DECA
The Regional Unity Initiative (RUI) is a initiative designed to connect chapters, empower members, and strengthen Florida DECA as a whole. The RUI ensures no chapter and no member is left behind, creating a DECA community where everyone has the support, guidance, and resources they need to succeed.
Why the RUI Matters
DECA is more than competitions, it’s a community of leaders, learners, and collaborators. When members are disconnected, opportunities for growth and success are missed.
The RUI addresses this by providing mentorship, workshops, and events that build skills, confidence, and lasting connections. By connecting chapters statewide, the initiative ensures members can learn from one another, grow together, and thrive as a unified community.
How It Works
Mentorship Across Chapters: Larger, experienced chapters are paired with smaller or growing chapters. This allows mentors to share knowledge and leadership skills, while mentees gain guidance, resources, and confidence.
Skill-Building Workshops: Bi-monthly virtual workshops give members access to practical tools for success, competition strategies, resume development, networking tips, and leadership advice.
District Collaboration Events: Interactive events like team challenges, social gatherings, and creative projects strengthen relationships and foster a sense of belonging, teamwork, and fun.
The Regional Unity Initiative is also a tool for future DECA leaders. By participating, members gain real leadership experience ,mentoring peers, organizing workshops, and coordinating events. These experiences teach communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills that extend beyond DECA.
Candidates and members alike can see the impact of connecting and empowering others, and how leadership strengthens the entire organization.
